Roundabout 7-8miles, crescendo (= I got faster during the run).
Going to do 4x2000m (1.2miles) intervals tomorrow, hope the weather is going to be alright...
What do y'all do about shin splints? Every time I start getting into a race training program a dull ache happens in my tibiae after about a month. I only run every other day to try to ease this.
I really want to do the local half iron distance triathlon again this september but am scared I am going to have to try to turn it into an aquabike.

Can't actually do anything about it. Don't increase your running volume / intensity too fast (excuse my english). A rule of thumb is to not increase the runned miles per week by more than 10%. Maybe you started off too fast?
Another thing is orthopaedic... Do you run in the right shoes? Did you have a biomechanical analysis of your running technique? Do you exercise enough for core strength?
It's only the obvious, I know. It's like calling for computer support and getting the advice to reboot
