I’m sure a lot of people are going to hate these boots with a suit. It’s a formality mismatch, but as a lot of you probably know, I care little about these things.

Those are quite a stretch--yes they are "incongruent", but even more because they are obviously ostentatious, like the "duck boots" of a couple years ago.

Would work with something not so worsted, though. And with a Bittner alpenhut.

It would appear that I am now a retired person - not precisely on my anticipated schedule, but close enough, and comfortably so. However, old habits die hard, and, taking musical advise from the late Jerry Herman, "there is no blue Monday (or in this case, Wednesday) in your Sunday clothes", I've dressed to the nines, as is said.

Suit - Paul Stuart/Phineas Cole
Shirt - Tyrwhitt
Tie - Paul Stuart
Braces - Lewin
Cufflinks - Tyrwhitt
Pocket square - Brooks Brothers
Shoes - Crockett & Jones
Overcoat & scarf - Turnbull & Asser
Hat - Selentino

Congrats on having more time to spend on SF @upr_crust!

Working with a buddy who’s office is located at a studio today, so I snuck in and took a photo. Unfortunately the lights weren’t rigged, so it’s just room lighting.

Congratulations indeed. So do you think you are going to continue dressing to the nines? A conundrum methinks.

Thank you all, gentlemen, for the good wishes. As for the conundrum of continuing to dress to the nines, one can only watch and wait for the results of that evolutionary process. ;)

These dark pin stripes really suit you crusty. I love all your posts, and have told your inspiring story of how posting on SF helped you to my friends. You always look really superb in the darker suits like this one! many years of happy retirement!!

Thank you, NycLondon, both for your compliments, and your good wishes on my retirement.

Today's suit has an interesting story attached to it. I had seen it at Paul Stuart's early in the fall 2016 season, and had liked it very much, but was hesitant about the price. October 9th, 2016, while running for an elevator in my former apartment house, i slipped and fell sideways, landing on my right hip, which caused one of my right pelvic bones to crack. I spent the next two months in some form of incapacitated state (walker to crutches to cane, and lots of physical therapy), awaiting my pelvic bones to heal.

Finally, by mid-December, I was mobile enough to walk with a cane, just in time for the private sale at Paul Stuart. The suit, in all of its three pieces, were on sale. I took this as a sign that I should own it, thus I do.
