I thought the comment about the incongruity had more to do with the material being shell, a hard wearing material, than with the footwear just being boots. I don't think the same question would arise from suede or even calf boots being paired with linen. I could be wrong though.
@Coxsackie

I really don't know. All I can say is that this particular suit, and this particular pair of boots, both give off a kind of relaxed vibe, and the colours look nice together.

I'd articulate it as different kinds of casualness. Shell casual to me leans toward workwear. Linen casual leans toward leisure. I could see boots with linen but they would have to be something more leisure-ish.

He's real? Isn't the suit a bit flashy ;)

It's just the lighting. No mohair in the suit, not even a high super number. I was very suprised it turned out looking flashy.

@spectre @Gerry Nelson what, apart from the direct sunlight, gives these suits their sheen? Is there mohair in the cloth?

One thing which struck me during a visit to Seoul a few years ago was the number of journeymen wearing highly reflective suits. Seemed to be a strong local fashion.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan, and it would give me pause when considering blends with mohair in them. Although I guess it depends on many factors.

This is another view of @spectre 's suit which is more indicative of how it looks in normal light:

The theme for the Friday Challenge is "herringbone". I've done a double dose of it with today's attire, helped in great part by the continued cold weather in NYC.

Suit - New & Lingwood
Shirt - Hilditch & Key
Tie - JAB
Cufflinks - London Badge & Button Co.
PS - RLPL
Braces - Trafalgar, via Barney's NYC
Shoes - Finsbury, Paris
Overcoat - BB
Scarf - BB
Hat - Selentino
