So, I realize there are 1000 things wrong with the jacket fit (I think I've mentioned elsewhere I recently lost a bunch of weight, and I've even had it altered once), I forgot my collar stays, and the tie color is not accurate in the pic (it's more of a blue/grey heather), but some kind soul stopped me in the street to snap the pic, so it can't be all bad . . . .

Thank you for the tips! I'm 20 and just getting into suits. I work at a real estate office here in Miami and unfortunately business casual here means wearing a polo and jeans. That being said their "black tie" event (their wording not mine,) was a disaster. Even with what I was wearing I still overdressed. (like they say I do every day anyways). Ill let you guys know now, I live on my own so after paying for the basics of living, and the girlfriend, I try to put whatever money I can into my wardrobe. That being said, my suits right now won't be the most expensive and unless Miami drops 50 degrees I probably won't be wearing tweed lol. But I like to try and look my best (compared to these regulars on here) so when I can afford it, I'll be asking you guys for tips on my next suit.

Thanks! I'm 1.85m, if I'm not wrong that would be 6'1. When you say "a wee bit longer", how much would that be? This would be very useful for future reference.
There are a few different ways to determine appropriate jacket length including: the hem at the tip of your extended thumb; the hem sits in the curl of your hands; the jacket should cover your ass, as PhatGuido says; and that if you are above 6" (183cm) in height you should select a long rather than regular length jacket.
The most important guide, though, is visual proportion - it should "look right" and that depends on the type of suit, the intended look, and prevailing social norms, to some extent. So here in MC short coats get short shrift.

Thanks a lot! Sorry to bother you, but do you know if there is a thread with some visual help to understand the proper lengths of the jacket? I want to open a new thread to ask this questions, cause when I bought all my suits I didn't know a lot about this stuff.

The true answer is to see a tailor. Much like buttoning point, sleeve pitch, shoulder balance, etc, the only way to achieve the proper proportions and fit is to consult a tailor.

I will warn, the realization that such details are highly subjective and rarely correct off the rack leads to much more expensive thoughts...

I have a tailor that make all the alterations to my suits or jackets. Thing is, he says lenght look fine. I don't know how trusty are tailors in Mexico City.

I prefer cm over feet and inches... :)

As others said before, a tailor would be the right one to answer that question properly since my statement is based on:

a) having seen only one of your pictures
b) personal taste

Cheers,
P

****** rainy day...
Trousers might look charcoal but they are actually dark olive green.

Jacket = Dustin
Shirt = Charles Tyrwhitt
Tie = Emidio Tucci
PS = Rubinacci
Trousers, socks (unseen, olive green wool) = Emidio Tucci
Shoes = Carmina

Hooray! It's Friday. A bye for Michigan. And in a few days, the Tigers might clinch the AL Central. (I know; it is the lowliest division in all baseball.)
