Never heard of Kellys on sale, good for NYC. Here in Chicago, the selection is quite smaller, so I guess that's why things are not as nice.

Hermes' appeal is critiqued in today's NYT here:

I was at the sale two years ago, I think it was at the Met Pavilion. They had a huge selection of ties and ladies scarves, which, as the NYT article points out, are Hermes' basic luxury item. I also recall mens shoes and handbags but maybe someone else can confirm.

Certainly not the worst sale I've ever been to - especially if you stick to the men's sections and stay away from the feeding frenzy by the scarves.

I dont know retail prices, but the ties were $90 and scarves were $165 at the sale, IIRC.

They seemed to have more inventory once the sale moved from the french institute around 59th street to the Pavilion.

Why wait! Every day of the year you can get a nice selection of Barba, Attolini, Finamore, Matuozzo, Hober for slightly less...

Head over to C21 for Battistoni and Holiday & Brown for 1/2 that. Ferragamo (if you have to have the prints) for $20 cheaper...

Some people like whimsical prints. Ferragamo prints are boring and their ties don't hold value.

OK, I hear you on the boring (although they look very similar to me

Well IMO, those who buy Hermes often chase new prints, after a while, they sell them to buy others.

I went to the sale in Bevery Hills a week or so ago. RTW was 40-60% off, scarves 40% off, and handbags/briefcases 60% off. From what I understand, only the discontinued stuff was on sale. Saw a nice briefcase though, still too rich for me at $3k.
