Ok, wedding attire/dinner jacket question from a long-time lurker…

I’m getting married this fall in Seattle, ceremony is outdoors, reception indoors (it’s an evening event). The wedding is not black tie, so it’ll be mostly suits for the men (at best, Columbia fleeces at worst, this being Seattle). I own a beautiful black Veronique Branquinho dinner jacket (single breasted, one button, peak silk lapels) that I’d love to wear, but I do not have matching black pants for this jacket. What are your thoughts on grey pants with it? If yes, how to accessorize?

Thanks in advance...

I counsel against this. There are some classic black tie combinations that do not involve the same fabric for trousers and jacket - such as a cream jacket in summer, a velvet smoking jacket at home, but this is not one of them. The grey pants also recall semi-formal daywear, which is not a good thing in my opinion. Really I can't think of a use for your jacket that would fit into classic dress. You could wear it out with jeans or something if you wanted to be flashy like that, but it's more of a SW&D thing. Obviously not for your wedding.
