Good window air conditioner?

i saw some on sale at lowe's the other day. just get one. if you want one with a remote, they're available but it really all just comes down to how much you want to spend. make sure it fits the opening.

For a room that size it doesn't really matter...unless you have bad insulation or massive exposure, the normal 5-6k btu units will work.

There are a few ease of use things to consider though...I just got my friends old unit which in addition to having more BTUs of power, has a few nice features:
Digital Settings - I can set a target temp which even if it isn't very accurate is better than twisting a knob from 1 to 5
Timer - Now I will be able to set it on for an hour before I head to bed and have it shut itself off once I am asleep...

Lately I've been impressed with how quiet and effective the LG in window units are.

If you want something to last forever, get a Friedrich or Frigidaire, even if they are a little noisier.

I have a Friedrich - quiet, but not powerful.

They cost more, but ones with thermostats are nice. That way you can keep your room bearable if you'll be out for a while without running it the whole time.

I have had window ACs! I think they were Panasonic.
