look nice, but did you wax it with navy wax? It seems darker than other's G&G that fresh from box

A bit of wax was used on heel and toe but lighting plays the biggest role. Colors like blue vary a lot with light and can look black in dark rooms and night. The top two were in overcast days and early morning when the sun wasn't out.

Fresh out the box.

These are mine in various lights with and without flash.

They are not standard midnight but not a Thomas patina either. There were a bit of a "process" shall we say.

They were polished a few shades darker by the factory then they went back to the factory and had some patina dye applied. A thin layer of black. Then re polished and finished. This was before the patina service started so there now may be an up charge to get the same colour but it wasn't a full paintbrush patina. Just a quick sponge over with some dye.

I have used a bit of kiwi black to polish ( I normally use Saphir but was recommended to use kiwi on occasion for these) this time to maintain and alternate with a blue/ navy polish. Thomas actually recommended a burgundy on occasion too. I have not used cream at all yet as they are too new and don't need it. Also with using the kiwi it has some of the properties of a cream polish.

apparently it enriches the blue and also tones down the black rather than using a neutral. Suppose it is a bit like using the occasional brown on vintage cherry, as I know many who alternate between red and black polish and use light brown to tone both of them down. Again that was recommended by someone at G&G.

Thomas was extremely knowledgable. There was a pair on the table by the entrance and several tins were out. I may go back to pick his brain about polishing.

I've read Steven of Leffot recommend navy wax on color 8 or burgundy shoes to give them more depth. I think it might work great on say burgundy shell Frankenstitch boots.

The standard G&G midnight blue looked awesome.

@Ironist

Do you have a pair of MH71 as well? Are they sized the same as your TG73?

I'm so tempted to go back and try on TG73 and DG70 just for peace of mind, though I was told they should all fit exactly the same. I think @laufer said he can't wear the TG73 due to the taper.
