Hi there,

I've decided I'd like to buy some black jeans that are on the slimmer side. I've been looking at the ED55 Black or the Zara Skinny Coated jeans.

I like the Edwin's for the heritage and quality but Zara is under half the price. The Zara ones also have a coated effect which I like but obviously this is not a brand which is known for denim.
Does anyone have experience with either brand and can shed some light onto which one will be a better investment.

Thanks.

depends entirely on your budget and priorities. if you're looking for black denim just to fill a wardrobe gap or to serve as a canvas for other cooler stuff like outerwear, etc, then go cheap. if you're looking for an "investment" or a pair that gives you warm and fuzzy feelings every time you wear them, go with the higher end stuff.

I'm leaning towards Zara because I don't think I'll be wearing them as much as my other jeans.

Would you buy the Zara ones again if you lost them? Also how do they fade/ how does the wax coating age over time?

I've tried them on, they are very tight in the thighs, like leggings on me, but are the only jeans I've tried that taper in enough in the calves. I like that they are stretchy, makes them quite comfortable and I imagine bearable on long wears.

If I lost my Zara ones I would probably just wear the ones I have from diesel. It doesn't fade much but i've been alternating between the two brands. If you don't think you will be wearing them much then I would go for them. You could also try these from Marc Jacobs: http://www.marcjacobs.com/products/s11mbmjean/black-coated-denim but you might have to get them tapered.
