Filson Bag Thread: With Pictures

I recently acquired a Filson double mackinaw and a matching vest and was hoping someone in here might be able to give me an assist with dating these pieces. No other tags are present other than the neck tags and the difference in the collar shape on the jacket makes me think it might be older but just a guess on my part. Any thoughts are appreciated!

I would guess late 90s early 2000s as well, based on the tag style and there not being a woolmark tag.

I ususally head to seattle or minneapolis on black friday for the sales, but this year I just do not have the time. I took full advantage of their sales in the past couple of years. Now, you can get a discount according to the email on anything in the store except full price items, clearance, and watches. What else is there in the store?

Any one make it out to the Seattle or Minnesota outlet store yet to see what they have?

I was at the Filson Seattle outlet store (in Marysville) last weekend, 11/23, and the only thing that caught my eye was the 48 hour duffle. It was $279.99. I didn't really see anything else that tempted me. I'd probably pass on the 48 hour though, maybe if it was $50 less I'd bite.

Dang. As the original owner, I'd show Filson the proof of purchase as well as any other purchase proof(s) and tell Filson that I've been a loyal customer since the item was bought and ask Filson to reconsider its position.

For the first time in awhile I had an excuse to use my MTB and it felt right at home on my shoulder, with 5 days worth of clothes & kit. Had a couple more of my Filson’s join in the fun

Some fun Filson spotting these past few months.

The first is "The Rundown" which stars Dwayne Johnson and Sean William Scott. It's a very fun and exciting movie that I keep coming back too. Somehow I never noticed the Tan Medium Duffel carried by Johnson, despite in another scene it being featured prominently. This one you have to really be paying attention to notice it. What makes this scene so great is that it features two things most of us here love; Filson and vintage trucks, despite both being completely destroyed.



Here is is featured more prominently, and also some funny Scottish lingo. Being that this movie is 2003, it might be YKK First Edition or a late Talon Era.

It is a sad day.

Screw it. Get the bag back and do a rustic DIY - wrap-stitch the edges and see if a local seamstress can do a zig-zag stitch with a sturdy thread on the bigger panels. 25% off their current stuff wouldn't be worth it to me for one second - maybe 50%. Maybe.

Mainly it seems like a free FRD carcass for them.

By the way, I posted it on another forum and it was suggested that I abused the bag, it looked like I let a wild animal get at it, they wouldn’t be caught carrying it around, that I need to know when things are past their prime, and that I should simply buy a new one. I’m glad to see that at least some others feel the same way I do.
