The new lasts are definitely different, but theoretically will be more consistent over the years than the wood. I tell people to get re fit if they are long time EG customers, your old last and width likely won't fit. Hopefully, once you get the new one you won't have to think about it again for many years

This is interesting.

Today I fetched a new-old-stock pair of Edward Green shoes from the post. They have no bevelling on the waist, no oval cutout on the lining for size markings and the sole stamp only reads "Made in England".

What most sets them apart from the contemporary EGs I already own is the last. This 202-last from the '90s fits much closer, particularly around the heel and the shoes feel much better. It seems that the folks at Green have enlargened their lasts to accommodate more shapes, more customers. I feel they've dumbed down the fit while improving the finishing.

Very interesting. 'Dumbing down' - a neat phrase!

Well gents it's trunk season I was hoping everyone could chime in with their favorite e.g. obscure model as I am looking for some inspiration. Good weekend to all.

Hello. A couple more questions if you don't mind. I found the Galways in last 64 at quite a good price at WR&Co ltd. However, they are F fitting. My left foot is slightly wider in the front, yet, I have always stayed with "normal" width and chosen generous lasts, is F much wider or just slightly? Should I size down if increase width or not? How I wish I was in the UK right now and go to the store and get the nice in shop experience, if I didn't love quality footwear I'd certainly never buy online!

Marylebone & Henley. Just ordered a pair of each.

For boots: I like the Epsom and St James, regrettably i don't know the name of the EG button balmoral boot.

For Shoes: Gladstone; Fulham; Freshford; and Atlee.

I was all caught up and forgot to ask if the Brummell was available as a MTO. Next time.

Some of the above I'm sure you'll know, there are so many quirky styles but sadly they don't bring samples of them. Most of the above are either on my shopping list or pieces I continue to um and argh over wondering how they will fit into my wardrobe and which skin / colour combination to commission. (It's a headache)

Also, Westminsters in Utah look amazing.

Hope this is food for thought.
