For those that use Saphir wax, what color do you use on Dark Oak? I've been only using Cream for the longest but want to attempt a deeper shine.

Not sure about neutral but the high pigment level in coloured pommadier creams completely flatten the subtle finishing on EG Antique & G&G Vintage leathers IMO. I think Tony G is on record somewhere saying to avoid them for this reason. I stick to Bick 4 to nourish and Saphir wax to shine.

Thank you because I thought I was crazy. Definitely the first (and any subsequent) time I used them I thought this is doing more harm than good. The whole point of these shoes is their finish and depth of color and these creams to some extent ruin that. The neutral is definitely the same. Anyone not believing this try this: get your brand new EG shoes and start applying the neutral cream on your shoes rubbing it in. And watch all the color coming off. Well, there was no color in the cream to begin with, where is the color coming from?

Now I did not know that the wax is better. But the renovateur is good stuff. I swear by it. Does not harm the color and it provides nourishment and moderate shine. I’m wondering why you had to go to Bick 4, did you also use at some point the Renonateur but you liked the Nick 4 better? I never tried that.

You're just not doing it right. You can rub off the finish with cream, wax, renovateur basically anything that contains some kind of solvent.

Use a dauber or your fingers, kinda impossible to remove the finish that way.

Not used Reno for many years but when I did I noticed colour stripping off crust leather when using a light coloured cloth to buff. I think Bick 4 is a gentler/milder conditioner.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention, seems that the USD conversion is a bit off on StC prices on our site. Will have someone have a look at that.

They are both pricy shoes, no doubt. I was just curious why you find StC to be so overpriced.

Has the pricing issue for SC been fixed or are the prices we see in the US correct? For example, is a pair or SC oxford $1680 excluding VAT?
