I just tried on a smoke jumper last weekend in Denver that was soft toe and the salesman told me that was the preference for the wild fire firefighters. I was surprised as I thought they would want some protection with at least single elastic.

I was going to agree with b-ewing, but I just went to White's website, and yes, a plain toe is standard! I never would have thought that! The website states a steel toe or celastic toe is an option and it will remove the NFPA rating if one is added. The NFPA is the code for firefighting gear.

Well I learned something today so now I'm done.

You guys are really showing your lack of working man roots by not knowing where to buy good boots. Check with ALL agriculture supply stores like Big R Supply, Murdochs Supply basically any place they sell a chain saw they probably sell Whites's, not to mention small custom boot shops. Whites are made for the blue collar man, catering to fashionistas is just a side job. Use the dealer locator on White's website. I bet there are a ton of Whites dealers around Denver.

@7018 I was at the arvada army surplus but they also have smoke jumpers at whitesides up in brighton . Whitesides has a much bigger selection of work boots while the surplus has a little bit of everything.
