My first post in the forum, outside of "introduce yourself" - I feel I have something to contribute to this particular thread.
I just recently got into boots a little bit, and, after some research (including here) and looking at sales around the web, decided to pull the trigger on 2 pairs. 1st is Normandy from Allen Edmonds, and second - Masham R from Cheaney (12508 last). When deciding on the sizing for Cheaney (mistake would be relatively costly, considering return shipping to UK), I used info found here, which pretty much said that, if you know your US size for AE shoes, you have to take straight 1 size down for Cheaney.
I'm happy to confirm that it is really the case, at least for these 2 particular boots (see the last picture below) - 11D in AE and 10F in Cheaney. As far as quality - I feel that Cheaney is a clear step up from AE, with regards to attention to details, first and foremost. However, AE's leather, while not of higher quality, is significantly softer.
