Among others, Loro Piana and Daniel Hanson both make very nice cashmere robes. Many years ago I saw some nice ones from Borrelli as well but I don't know if they're still in the business. I personally would give the nod to the Daniel Hanson ones. Daniel Hanson is apparently some crazy bishop's son from Nottingham who--inspired by dressing gowns and loungewear from the Golden Age of the 1920s/30s--has built an entire business focused on impeccably-styled robes, pajamas, etc. made out of the finest materials. The Daniel Hanson cashmere robes have great silk piping and are entirely lined in colorful contrasting silk. And while it might be a stretch to label them a bargain, they are certainly a bigger bang for the buck. Who knows what you pay for that LP label.

I have one of the Daniel Hanson ones that Pejsek speaks of. I love it, although I don't wear it much. On a cold Saturday or sunday there is nothing better than wearing one in the kitchen while I drink an espresso and read the paper.

Thanks for the link, amerikalinda. Based on recent message board trends, I would guess the grey with pink silk piping would probably be the SF consensus favorite. NM also has purple with emerald green piping and lining--perhaps a bit much, but who knows.

Good for lounging around the bachelor pad sipping mojitos reading Town&Country on a lazy Sunday morning before going outside to play croquet...

Here's a blurb with some contact info from the loathsome Robb Report:

http://www.robbreport.com/Articles/S...be-Warrior.asp

Google gives an address as well:
Daniel A. Hanson
Norton St 1st Floor/Radford Mill
Nottingham, Nottinghamshire N67 3HR
(0115) 9783677

I actually have a robe/dressing gown from the collection mentioned in the Robb Report. It's a wonderful blue and gold (no display of school spirit intended) wool jacquard lined with gold silk. I'd have no qualms at all about putting it in the same league as the old Sulka gowns. The cashmere robes are perhaps a bit less baroque, but still very luxurious and made with an amazing eye for balance and detail.
