XK are very unreliable as are most Jaguars up until recently. If it's an interim fix then you may be ok. it is a great looking car.

I’ve been in a similar position this past year actually. Very lucky.

Unfortunately there is no solution to repair the sticky buttons and surfaces. A complete replacement of the damaged areas is the only way. Couldn’t imagine living with it, the worst was by the steering column, which made contact with my knees

The sticky button thing was also an issue for Porsche and MB back in the early 2000s.
