Pano roofs are a pretty great invention. They add a ton of weight on the worst possible place on the car, but if it’s not on a sports car no one particularly cares.

When the weather and route are exactly right, though, convertibles feel like a million bucks. Nothing else will come close to the experience. Even a full pano roof will feel like just a peek at the stars in comparison

Admittedly was never a fan of convertibles or spiders (or spyders) like the 430, 16M and California. I’m more of a Targa fan or ones that can pass for one, like the 458 Spider or Super America. Plus the rear window (458) can be lowered with roof on, and you can listen to that glorious soundtrack. With it up when the top is down it mimics the look of a Targa.

A sunroof has become a must have for me. Unless I have someone else in the car or it's raining mine is almost always open at least 25%.

My Maserati QP Sports GTS 2010 got totalled :(

I could have been killed, so there's that. I've been lusting after a GT for a while but will wait for a reasonably priced used one. In the meantime, I'm contemplating a 2006 Jaguar XK convertible.

Lol I don’t think it’s that, I mean this is coming from someone who has idolized the Ferrari F40 since it debuted when I was in grade school. The Enzo hit many of the same boxes, meaning it wasn’t some over-complicated computer with wheels (like the LaFerrari). It had a certain rawness to it. Obviously it’s not a manual but in certain scenarios I can overlook that aspect.

Overplayed but still love this video. I saw an Enzo in 2003 in the general public during a trip to Florida, it was fresh off the production line.

Yea, as raw as it is, I don't like the lack of a manual, and always thought the F50 (although an amazing engine and engine sound) and the Enzo were both ugly. I'd gladly take a 288GTO or F40 over either of them. However, some of my younger friends adore the Enzo. Nothing wrong with that, it would be a boring forum if we all love the same models, even from Ferrari.

Yes, aside from the added weight at the worst possible point on a car, they are incredible complex and ridiculously expensive to fix when they break. My techs told me when specing Mrs. Dino's last car, unless you are leasing, skip the pano roof. When it breaks you want it to be someone else headache.

Shhhhhh....you’re not allowed to like Maserati’s here. ;)

I used to work for them (and Ferrari). I like certain models including your old Sports GTS. The newer Stradale’s are pretty cool too.

I’m determined to buy a convertible next time I’m in the market for a car. Don’t understand how anyone (but a lady fussy about her hair) could dislike them.

Yikes. Well I’m glad you weren’t killed. Did this happen in HK?

Here’s a couple of reasons. In my experience at Ferrari & Maserati the canvas tops became dirty and tough to clean, looked worn out after awhile and the absolute worst was when something broke mechanically and they couldn’t function properly. A manual convertible top (like a Miata) or a manual hardtop targa FTW.

I'm no car buff but I liked the looks of the car, and loved the growl when I turned the ignition key in the morning. It was a gas guzzler, and some of the plastic inside was getting 'sticky', but I loved the way it drove and sounded as I drove. Hopefully the XK convertible will be a short interim car until I get my Granturismo which has been my 'dream car' for a while now.

Yup. I injured my leg and it was funny that I asked the paramedic to spare my suit trousers when they came to split my pants with scissors.

Glad you’re ok now. A serious car accident is tough to get past, both physically and mentally.

The sticky interior pieces is common in Ferrari & Maserati’s, especially Ferrari (dating back to the 348). There’s no certain cause other then wide speculation, but luckily there is a fix for them. I’ve seen many before & after results personally. It’s night & day different.

It's too late for me now, but what did you use for the sticky problem please?

I seem to be mentally and physically ok. I was a foot or two from death. One recurring thought is that surely that I can't have been so lucky.

I’ve been in a similar position this past year actually. Very lucky.

Unfortunately there is no solution to repair the sticky buttons and surfaces. A complete replacement of the damaged areas is the only way. Couldn’t imagine living with it, the worst was by the steering column, which made contact with my knees
