Not eBay but I'm not sure where to put this: I bought something from a forum sponsor yesterday and paid through their website. I was going to pay with Paypal, but their euro-to-dollar exchange rate was going to charge me ~$30 more. In other words, make sure to check the total before you actually pay with Paypal (or maybe just don't use it).

In most circumstances, you can select the option on paypal to be billed in the foreign currency or be billed in USD. Then, you can select your payment method. If you have a credit card that has no foreign currency transaction fees you'll normally get a pretty good rate. I have a dedicated card for foreign transactions and the spread is pretty fair and always far far better than what paypal charges.

Good point, I forgot to look for that option. My card does not have foreign transaction fees, but when I saw the higher price I thought "screw it, I'll pay through the website."

I did the euro/dollar conversion before I paid, and the website was not taking a markup to charge in USD. I think a lot of retailers charge some sort of "convenience fee" to pay in USD. This one did not.

as mentioned you can pick on PP different option.
Usually credit Card fees are 2% on spot.

I monitor EBay daily. My eight pairs of Alden's both shells and calf are a mixture of Leather Soul special make-ups and The Shoe Mart stock items.

Each worn no more than once or twice where I learned that, no matter what, I cannot be fit comfortably in a Barrie Last.

As I regularly see Alden shells and Leather Soul make-ups in near new condition going for $350.- to $450.- range this is what mine will be priced at,...Possibly a little lower just to see them move.
(Although this thread has certainly made me gun shy of selling on EBay.)

But thank you for your kind offer.

I have purchased over 400 items via EBay but sold none. I had thought of pricing each pair fairly and clearly stating that there will be no returns and the images that I post will be the only assurance of the shoe's condition.

I have heard some horror stories about EBay buyers who receive a given item and then claim that they were delivered an empty box,.....Only to put a hold on the seller's PayPay account. Has anyone else heard things like this?

Thanks in advance.

There's a pretty active Alden B/S/T thread over on the SW&D side of the board. It may be worth your time to check that out and gauge interest if you don't want to deal with eBay buyers.

Buyer had my jacket for 26 days before opening a return stating ordered by mistake and sub reason, got sent wrong item with a couple of low light pictures. I was able to decline and close the return. Got the negative feedback removed as well.

Googled the guy and he might be an attorney. He sent my this message and I am wondering if I should be concerned?

You should definitely report that message to eBay. They should (though I doubt they will) kill his account.

Lol I did report it to the eBay rep on Twitter with a screen shot. Anyone else I should forward to?

I am more concerned if he is actually gonna follow up with his threat. Lot of hassle but when egos get involved people tend to do stupid stuff.

you would hope eBay would pick up the tab for that. Sounds like a huge potential problem for them if he sued you directly

what a joker.
If he is really a lawyer, you should have a FedEx'ed paper already in your hand ;)
If you accept 30 days returns, then it's 30 days. If you don't then, tell him: Get lost.
