Do I fasten the bottom button of a 4 button waistcoat to be worn with a tuxedo? With a vest and suit, I wouldn't, but am not sure about a waistcoat and tuxedo.

Four buttons? That's kinda throwing me. If you are wearing a full dress vest in black or white, button all the buttons.

If you have some other type of vest, try to get the dress vest or a cummerbund.

Low cut evening waistcoats can take 4 buttons. (I should link to some old fashion plate).

I would do them all up, and maybe undo the bottom one after dinner

Yeah. I have a set of white tie links/studs, and it has 4 waistcoat studs and 3 shirt studs.

Button it, of course.

Unless you fear being thought to have (Egads!) "bad form".

Sheesh. "Bad form" - how very, very twee.

Button all. I have a low-cut evening vest with four (very small and close-set) buttons.
