Best Drummer?

There are so many great drummers...I think you have to give the nod to Buddy as he just has the whole package.

I'm a huge Neal Peart fan, and he's one of the best, but as great as Neal is he's not a jazz cat at heart. He can't even perform a big band tune without running into his concert drum solo!

And my favorite, due to his amazing skill and ability to stretch over many types of music and styles:
Danny Carrey.
His drum tracks always sound so simple on the first listen, but relisten on nice headphones or a nice system, and you'll notice all of the subtle work he does. "Vicarious" has a couple extra dimentions due to tricks like ghost notes.

It's a simplistic way of assessing things, true, but"”so long as you read the lists rather than just writing them"”it's an efficient way to acquire references for good things you may have missed.
