Is it possible to find a tailor that will do this? I'd imagine mail order from a developing country would be the most affordable. In addition to the fit I think it'd be great to customize all the little details like buttons, collar, etc.

it is possible. but i believe the bigger problem would be looking for a good fabric for your polo.

How would you get the right size collar? It's one piece and has finished edges, that's not exactly something you can cut up, you need to weave it that way.

acidicboy: Do you know someone that does this?

A few years ago I got what I thought was a custom Polo from Ascot Chang in Hong Kong. However I think they just tailored their existing Polo. They don't even offer this now. If you stop in their NYC or LA shop and ask for a custom Polo they act like you are nuts. The collars on my Polos are white dress shirts style so that got around the weaving issues on a normal collar.

Has anybody tried ww Chan for a polo? They would probably be able to craft something.

Interesting no entrepreneur has taken on this challenge.

Ascot Chang has a line of polos with a shirt style spread collar in white. There is also another line with regular woven collars. They don't do the custom polos anymore but they fit on the slim side. I do very much like them except for the "AC" logo where the croc goes in Lacoste shirts.
