So here it is, probably not enough time as this is happening in an hour but was wondering if a wool beige sport coat ( more like beige but on the warm side of the colour made out of wool) can be worn with navy trousers and white shirt and tie or a light grey / black turtle neck.
The safe choice is a burnt red(really dark) double breasted 4x2 sport coat with white shirt and tie / maybe bowtie plus the aforementioned navy trousers.
The event is a an Xmas dinner. Not black tie just smart.

Shoe choice: dark brown double monks or black toe cap Oxfords. Leaning towards the double monks.

You can pretty much wear whatever you want these days. Nobody knows how to dress or adheres to social norms around evening attire v day wear anymore.

I know that, and I know I will be overdressed but I'm still curios if a light colour of a top like that is suitable for evening/night.

As long as you ask the question it means that you care about such things.
So, I would go with a blue blazer or the like instead of the camel.

Personally not a fan of camel-colored sport coats, day or night. I think it's tough to make them look good. That said, for an evening event, I would go with something in navy.

I think this one from Drakes works. But indeed, higher contrast for evening dos.
