Recommendations for good quality dress belts? I like Allen Edmonds, but they're too expensive for my price range.

RM Williams from Everyting Australian. You benefit greatly from the US/AUD currency difference.

The Meermin RUI last- does it run a full UK size large?

I.e. is the 11.5 a 46.5/47 rather than the advertised 45.5?

It does for me. I typically wear an 11 US/10 UK/44 EU. I wear a 10.5 UK in MOST Meermin lasts, but a 10 UK in the RUI. It's pretty roomy.

Thanks- I just bought a pair of Meermins in store in an 11.5 (their sizing) on the RUI last but typically wear a 13E in the Allen Edmonds #5. What worries me is they sold me 48-49 shoe trees alongside them & are shipping them in the shoes to me.

I’m wondering if that’s to stretch them out, or if their 11.5 is legitimately a 48.

I don’t mind with Calfskin, but in their current GMTO crowdfunding I wouldn’t want to take the risk.

Is there a general preference for Lulu or Triumph metal toe plates? I'm wanting to add to a pair of black oxfords. My initial thought is I might prefer the Lulu silver over the Triumph brass with black. I realize they do essentially the same thing; so, other than aesthetics, is there any reason to choose Triumph over Lulu?

Anyone have experience with these ties?

I see some on ebay that look like solid buys. I'm intending to wear these with some spread collar shirts from Charles Tyrwhitt in the office.

I purchased a pair of Issey Miyake classic pleats, and I'm a bit unsure as to why they bunch around my thighs and crotch area, is it because they are too small? They feel fine but looks bad. 89437753_685289008907400_1919293822269915136_n.jpg

So while recently purchasing a shoe from Vass I saw that when I put in a UK address, it deducts the VAT and charges shipping fee of 40 euros ( which is their charge of shipping outside EU )

So, does anyone know what is the policy now? do I have to pay the VAT during delivery ? Or will I have to pay any other charges or duties ? What’s the rule now ?

Hello friends,

does anyone know when Prada switched to this type of logo in their suits? I know the brand doesn't get a lot of love around here but spare me this time

What kind of leather is this?

Hi Stewie,

I would need some more information/pictures on the shoes to make a good assesment. Having said that, to me it seems they where trying to imitate some animal skin leather, which would indicate its a genuine leather (low quality) which was pressed to form that pattern and then painted on top. I think this because the pattern seems very homogeneous to be natural and the grain looks to large for a natural cow grain.

However I can't tell much from that picture alone, full grain leathers and specially the ones from exotic animals are very expensive and you can only find them in shoes that are in the hundreds of $.

Besides good quality leather is usually, but not always, left exposed at the seams and covered with wax, so you should be able to see the cut of the leather and the tanning.
