Are wholecuts ugly?

I've yet to see a pair that I thought truly elegant. I'm sure the manufacture tests the skill of the shoemaker but somehow most RTW results look blousy and ill-formed. I remember with horror some Trickers I saw when I was last in London.

Anyone got some examples RTW or bespoke to prove otherwise?

I have yet to see a pair I didn't like. Very nice, elegant, understated look in my eyes.

I've never liked wholecuts. I know most of the shoe aficianados love them, but I can't warm up to them. The only exception would be Jermyn II, but I like that because it's a monk and in spite of the fact that it's a wholecut.

Are they harder to construct than other types of shoes?
