not talking bout a major restructuring, but like a subtle half inch, inch...

i'm wondering if this would look funny...i'm 5'8...wear a 38S, but i'd still prefer it a tad shorter...just wondering if anyone's ever done this before w/ success

I haven't, but you definitely can. Half an inch is doable without screwing up the pocket placement and proportions.

I've had it done before. The important thing is the pocket placement. If the pockets aren't too low, it works fine.

As noted above, key is not visibly affecting pocket placement too much. Also make sure they finish the quarters in the same way. Once I found an RLPL flannel coat and thought, why does this look odd? It was because a cheap alteration job from an L to an R had chopped the bottom of the jacket without rounding the quarters at all.
