Also do the thighs stretch because I really like them the way they are, if anything they could be tighter

Will they still continue to stretch because I really like how they feel around the waist now, Maybe I should have gone with a 27 instead

I'm sure you're fine.

Do you wear a belt? That helps.

Wearing a belt and keeping the top button undone? no stretch ever. just depends on what kind of shirts you wear and the belt of course

What other brands use the denim that Ande is switching to? I want to get an idea of how well it will fade.

Ande is really slow to stretch... Mine didn't reach their peak of stretch until over 3 months in and even then it was only like an inch or so. As far as kneebags go, after 9 months, they're less than my Nudie SJDJ had in a month... And those jeans are pretty loose in comparison (slim-straight fit, did not size down.) And the thighs stay pretty tight. It's good

About Shrink to Fit type denim

Does it lose its 'raw' stiffness and become a lot more softer after the first soak and becomes more easily moldable

They actually felt even stiffer after the initial soak to me.

One thing to note about the STF denim is the rise shrinkage. Ande's site says everything other than the waist/inseam will shrink approx. 1 size, but the rise shrinks a lot more than that. Mine went from 11.25" to 10.25". I would've gone with sanforized if I'd know about that in advance, 10.25" is too low for me.

Oh this worries me. I'm expecting some Cougars and I specifically got them for the higher rise. It seems like every other jean mfg-er is doing a 9-10" rise.

Send them back and exchange them for a pair with sanforized denim instead. Rise shouldn't noticeably shrink on those.

What do cougars look like?

What would they be comparable to in APC or Dior cuts?

I am thinking more along the lines of a New Standard type cut.

How can the rise of jeans shrink a whole inch, if the inseam shrinks by not more than one inch? That doesn't make sense to me. Shrinking should be uniform across the garment, right? Or am I missing something here.

Nope, I'd guess some error on the initial rise measurement. Denim shrinks uniformly unless hindered by something

The inseam shrunk by 2.5". Nothing wrong with the initial measurement.

read the thread [Ooe's as well] and was fascinated by the idea of having jeans made to my specs... that would be like eating ice-cream while **********. hehe! that's what an xgf would say... but that's an entirely different thread.

35,000 yen is not cheap, but doable. no question about the level of sewing skill and creativity. what i am a bit concerned of tho' is the denim material used. i'm sure they're topnotch. but, unlike the [production] stuff, where we can actually base and compare denim performance from well documented archives [eg. such as fading potentials, etc, etc], it seemed satisfaction will be a luck of the draw. by the time some1 post evo, the material would have run out.

I am loving my cougars, but looking to pick up a different type of denim. Can anyone recommend a model that will fit somewhat similarly to the Cougars with a long inseam (37 or longer)?
