I'll add to the temptation. The walnut McAllister is most likely my favorite calf shoe. With walnut shell Dalton's and walnut shell Strand.

1000

Even though I have the Cambridge in #8 shell I often consider getting the McAllister in Merlot. It is that great of a shoe IMO.

Dammit! I haven't even had a chance to wear my Bourbon Strands out, and I'm already salivating over some eventual Walnut McAllisters...

For me it was a special case, however I think JubeiSpiegel has a pair of truffle Dundee's on order with the natural sole. I received my walnut with natural soles yesterday, still waiting on the truffle. I ordered the truffle with dark brown soles and am going to see if I can switch to natural. As JubeiSpiegel has proven already he has a natural ability for matching colors, etc. And I am sorely lacking in that department. I like the walnut with natural soles the best so far.

Black, #8, Dark Brown, Walnut:

I was the same at one time, and yes your in trouble! I now have almost as many shoes as boots. Although the Dundee's are helping to put the ratio back up some.

On the Reno I wanted to mention that I also love it for calf and shell like many on here. However be careful on leather that has been scratched through the surface and raw leather is exposed. It will turn it black or at least very dark. Of course the right way to do it is use cream first and add the color back in. But I haven't found a walnut colored cream that is a perfect match. On my walnut shell Dalton's and walnut shell Strands I use Saphir Cognac wax which is close. Very sparingly and not often maybe a couple of times a year. If I do treat them with product most of the time it is just a light coat of Reno. And recently Alden Defender.

Nice. A MTO walnut or truffle/cappuccino Patriot sounds interesting.

Youv'e had those for two weeks! What are you waiting on?

Ugh, I know. I'm fortunate enough to work at a very laid-back company, but it means I hardly get a chance to dress well. I'll have to take the girl out as an excuse to wear 'em.

My brand new pair of black Rutledge. I love them, the leather is real soft and supple.
By the way, are these new boxes and shoe bags that AE gives now? The box seems a lot nicer and sturdier. However the bag no longer has that burgundy fleece fabric.

Enjoy! Let us know how they crease for you. I love mine as well but not thrilled with the creasing above the cap. Mixed responses on what should be expected but I think they should crease below the cap as they fit perfectly and are very comfortable.

Mine crease a little on the toe cap. However, the overall style of the walnut is so burnished/distressed in general that it doesn't really matter to me.

I just picked up the Dalton for $240. It's my first Allen Edmonds and my first boot. I can't wait to receive it! Hopefully the hurricane won't delay the shipping too much.

That's a great price. I'm guessing you were able to get seconds, correct? Enjoy and please post pics.

You're going to love the versatility of these.  I wear them with everything from jeans to slacks and a sport coat.  Enjoy!

I tried two different sizes in the Malverns and could not get them to work. Really wish they would have. Will be trying Loakes next, and I hope I have better luck.

I believe they still make the Jefferson in walnut as well... possible that you can get the broken-in leather feel of the Independence collection and your walnut wing at the same time.

First post, so go easy. Bought a pair of walnut strands with the v tread Sunday. Should be delivered in a few weeks and I got a 20% discount using the partners card in Dallas (charity function that gives you 20% off at over 500 retailers after you donate/buy a card). Was looking for a black shoe, but just fell in love with the walnut strands and couldn't turn my back on them.

I'm traveling right now so don't have photos, but I just received a pair of the burgundy shell Park Avenues that I ordered during the sale. I specifically waited until they were out of stock in my size (10.5C) so that I would get the new shell darker finish. Indeed, they are much darker than the old finish that I felt was too pink-hued. These are closer to Alden's #8, although more red/black than eggplant. Very, very, nice, rich finish.

If you're going to get a pair of the burgundy shells I would highly suggest calling ahead to make sure you get the new finish.
