I requested a list of pairs in my size 9D and was delighted to see brown calf Macneils in stock for $129. I just ordered them with a pair of trees and they should be here tomorrow. Shipping from a Wisconsin warehouse to my job in Chicago.

^You should still call them.
BTW those shoes may be too long for you, if so, new ones will be like that, too. I would go to a store and get measured. Does not have to be an AE store, all Brannock devices are same.

Wow, that is an unbelieveably low price. Are they someone's custom order that ended up being rejected, or are you referring to the walnut grain calf?

Couple pictures of my burgundy ones before I polished them up:

Clarksdb, those look really nice. You may have swayed my decision-making process. Two questions:

  • How do they fit (say, compared to a 5-last like the Park Avenue)? Since they look very similar to a PA/5th Ave, I would assume that they fit similar.
  • Would you ever consider wearing the burgandy Cliftons with jeans? Or do you find them a little dark for that?

Thanks!

I'm not sure if they were a custom order or not. They are definitely brown calf and I feel like I saw pictures of those in the past.

Probably the bown/natural rough collection Macneils from 2011.

The Macneil is one of AE's oldest styles, and has been produced in many different leathers and colors over the years by both AE as well as customs, so you may never really know for sure. Quite a steal at that price though.

Looks like the Brooks Brothers version of the strand is on sale. . .but not the regular one. The main difference (I am told) is that the Brooks version has a rubber sole. I don't think i'm interested. . .seems like a weird combo!

It's not quite a a rubber sole. If you go to AE's website and check out their combination tap sole, that's similar to what BB is offering.
