I saw a pair of shoes on the Shoebank in the 555 last. This last is used on the Kirkwood and Maritime (maybe others as well).
Can anyone tell me how this last compares to others? I'm mostly concerned about length and toke space.
    Thank you.

Any chance of them bringing back the Amok design or an equivalent chukka? they were really nice.

Those are the new Road Warriors comfort collection about to be introduced at retail. Basically like Ecco and Rockports.

@RitchieBro how anti climatic. Jk thanks for the info.

General question. Which should have more toe room a 8.5D or 9C?

9C more than likely. They will be roughly the same width, with the C being a hair more snug. Being a half size longer though will change where the ball of your foot lands in the shoe, putting it in the wider part of the shoe, which in turn should make it feel a little roomier for your toes. Does that make sense?

EDIT: this is all contingent on how proportional your foot is. I.E. if your arch is a little longer than your overall length, which is generally the case, although not the rule.

MTO rules have changed so not sure what is currently acceptable...
but AE made these in 2014:

They said the shape of the Odenwald was similar enough to the 511 last
(the b34 last only goes up to size 14)

Those look awesome! I've been a little lazy in picking mine up, but I'll finally get to it today. We're yours firsts or seconds?

Thanks! Mine were classified as seconds. Very minimal wrinkling on the shaft of the boots - I can not even tell anymore where it was originally. They came out great - pick yours up and wear them!! You will love them.

Walnut McAllisters today, my first pair of AE bought about I think maybe two years or so ago. I don't wear them nearly enough. I may experiment with some toe burnishing in the future on them.

These smartwool socks are definitely making the boot break in comfortable. [IMG]

As much as I love cordovan these days, it's hard to beat the comfort of calf.

My recent eBay score... Patriot shells for $160. Giving them a little bit of TLC this evening with the deer bone

Any other suggestions to bring these back to good health?

Entering the maze of sutble differences between the various Allen Edmonds lasts is always a bit of a fool's game from this side of the Atlantic, but I'm toying with the idea of a pair of Banchory longwings I've spotted for sale.

Made on the 234 last, which AE claim is quite a close relation to the 97.
So, if I'm an 8.5D with my MacNeils, should I be safe buying these shoes in the same size?
I also wear 8.5D in my 2 pairs of Sheltons.

They appear to be unlined, like the Neumok. Would this affect the sizing?

Insane deal JR! :slayer: They look great already. What's the current condition? Do they seem dry?

Aside from damp wiping and relentless brushing, VSC has worked very well for me on my shell shoes. I have also seen strong recommendations for Bick 4 and Leather Honey conditioners, but have yet to personally try those options.

+1 for Bick 4. I've only been using it recently on my shell but I love the results! A coat of saphir renovateur wouldn't hurt anything either.
