Question about 5 last fit:

I currently own:

Strand's (brand new) in snuff suede, size 9.5 EEE
Park Ave's (seconds) in black calf, size 9.5 EEE

Both fit my feet very well. I recently ordered a pair of Strand's (brand new) in walnut calf 9.5 EEE, but this one is significantly tighter all around -- is this normal and just needs to be broken in? Or should I go with 10 EEE?

Thanks

Have decided that I can't keep my lovely new snuff suede Amoks. They're size 10.5 3E. Although the give of the unlined suede masked it at first, they're really just too narrow for me after all. They would fit a 10.5 E foot perfectly.

Before I sent them back, I thought I'd see if anyone here wanted them first. Never worn outside. Just asking what I paid: $128 plus shipping.

Please feel free to delete if this isn't cool...

I grabbed this pair of Leeds in Burgundy shell seconds earlier but found that the left shoe is darker / less right than the right. It might be the reason why they are seconds but is there a way to change. I believe, from the condition they were in when I received them, the right (more red) shoe has been tried on or was displayed. Will wearing more turn the left shoe to more of a reddish brown? Thanks all.

Well try and brush the right shoe a little more then, if you're willing to keep it. Like, if you're gonna spend 30 seconds of brushing for the left, spend a whole minute on the right. And put more wear and creases on the right shoe.

The color difference is due to one being exposed to light for an extended period of time while the other was tucked away in a box. If it bothers you, leave the darker one in direct sunlight for a few days.

As others have said, sunlight should even them out a bit. However, I think they look fantastic and happen to dig the variations in shell color.

How do people hand patches of discoloration on a single shoe then?

It's much harder to control sunlight on a specific spot.

I've never tried it, but perhaps cordovan polish? Like AE's or Saphir's?

Cordovan polish: AE's vs. Saphir? Is Saphir worth the investment? (I only have one pair of shell)

For shell I rarely use any polish at all. I'll use Saphir Renovateur or Ventian Leather Lotion. Polish will actually build up on shell and give it a dull appearance.

If you need to try to even out some color and had to use polish then use very little and make thin layers but you are not going to be able to "recolor" shell by using polish.

My wife doesn't understand why I'll spend five hundred bucks on a pair of boots, but she and I both love how burgundy shell looks in natural light after they've been worn every week for a couple of years and developed that sort of variation.

I don't try to "fix" it; I kinda wish all my shoes did that (except the black Park Avenues and brown Byrons -- gotta look serious sometimes) .
