I have been hesitant to wear my First Avenue boots with denim. Today I decided to give it a try with some black denim.

Why? Green is more versatile than you’d think. I wear my green shell cordovan Grant Stone PTBs with denim all of the time. Beautiful boots, by the by!

It wasn’t about the color. I do agree that green is a somewhat neutral color.

The First Avenue has smooth calf, a flat welt, and a single leather sole. I wasn’t sure if it would be a good match with the heavier texture of denim.

Looks good with the rainbow nep. I’m rocking my Japan Olive Gustins today.

These look awesome and have me hoping for another suede trunk show @ae_ashley! This also disturbs me because I’ve always thought that Leeds are a bit fuddy-duddy in calf (no offense to those who love them, just my personal opinion!) However, in suede (especially snuff suede) I’d totally rock them. Can anyone explain this phenomenon to me? ?

Still haven’t sent these off to Bedo’s to be sized down from 12D to 12B because you lot have me concerned they might lose their shape

Well, it's because suede Leeds rock.

They aren’t quite as old as @Shoenut - congrats on grandpa status! ;)

Do I get bonus points today for matchy matchy no show socks?

I know we have chatted about no-show socks. As an 8 1/2 EEE, I have found these NA socks to be the best. I’ve tried at least 10 different brands (including some ladies versions), and have found these to be the best so far. Here is a link to their site: https://na-nyc.com/ your mileage may vary.

Congrats on the grandpa status and new girl in the family. Oddly, I did the same thing last week.
This one is a boy. The next girl is not coming for 3 months.

Oops, sorry. The pink name tag on the wrist made me think he was a little girl. Or do we still do that any more?

No clue, haven’t been involved in making a baby in 25 years. I can’t have them anymore cause I bought a condominium.

Well, it's because suede Leeds rock.

Another mid-60s day called for another suede shoe. This is the chukka with no name that I got from our favorite eBay seller. They came with a bit of spotting on one of the vamps that I need to hit with some suede cleaner. Built on the same last as the Higgins Mill, but at 11D, it's a half-size down from what I usually wear. Hey, beggars can't be choosers with such a low run of these bad boys. Love the welt, love the unlined sued, and love the blue (although I really should be wearing these with a lighter color pants). "Meh" on the crepe sole and I wish they had 3 eyelets, but those are about my only gripes. I'm surprised this one didn't get a final run and a real name. AE should definitely think about bringing these back, but with a different sole. I'd be OK if AE called them the "Hoatie."

Sorry for the lousy pose. I either need to hem these jeans, or I need to make my legs longer. Focusing more on my leg game than my jeans game lately. Got started on building a couple of Morris chairs for my dad and myself. Laminated quarter sawn white oak with band sawn veneers on the side. I only wish my own legs were as sexy as these.
