We spend a lot of time and have close friends in Gettysburg. It's a great little town and Mr Gs has the best ice cream. I hope you peed on that marker after you took the picture with your Liverpools.

Why in the world would he do that??

Liverpools in Gettysburg.

How were they to tromp around the battlefields? They seem too nice for that (they look great in Walnut, BTW).

We just popped up for cider and wine restock from Reid's Orchard. I'm about an hour away so not a big deal to pop up there. Truth be told, battlefield days are usually a spare pair of GoreTex Belleville desert combat boots i was issued but didn't wear for deployment. Been thru a hike or three in that model in far worse conditions than tourism so I prefer em. ;)

Reids are good people. I'm not a huge fan of their wine but we always enjoy popping in for some good conversation.

My bourbon Carlyle's were refinished and arrived today. I didn't even know these were on the way, as they didn't send me a shipping notice.

My wife took this picture, as I'm out of town. They do look a bit rough, but better than before (they match now). It seems they got rid of a lot of the green color in them. The downside is that the dark burnishing shoes in the creases. Oh well, I still will wear these a lot.

I'm thinking about ordering a pair of Fifth Street boots with either Dainite or V-tread, and double sole if possible. Has anyone already gone either of these routes and able to share pictures or personal experience with the outcome?

I ordered a pair of cavanaughs in burgundy from our favorite flea-bay seller. One is a little darker than the other, but I think I can fix it. If not I'm just going to be using them for casual wear anyway so no big deal. They look as if they were worn once and sent back. It's interesting in that he accepted an offer of 60% even though they were newly listed, perhaps because I'm a repeat customer. Kinda weird though because I made a 60% offer on a belt the other day and it was countered. At any rate I've never been a loafer guy, but at $70 it's hard to go wrong. Even 2nds would cost 3 times that and they don't have burgundy in my size anyway.

Nice. I have this same loafer, but under the Paxton name (before Cavanaugh). Great looking shoe, you'll enjoy them if the fit is right.

I'm more about their cider; grabbed a bottle of red for a friend stationed back in Nebraska. We tend to hit Adams County for wine but we're not picky customers in that respect. Made from grapes and fermented but not sour works for me.

Just curious, when you travel or go to friend's homes where they don't wear shoes indoors, do you bring a shoehorn with you?  I only have long-handled ones for use at home but I'm thinking I should have small/travel sized one.

A credit card works in a pinch!
