Here's a pic of my walnut strands vs my newer walnut Leiden, yes it has darkened a bit.

I found the "before" picture of my Flatirons, which helps show the difference.

Hmm... That's not as dramatic in the side-by-side as it is in real life.

In my limited experience, it does seem the walnut is getting darker. I bought some walnut Rogue shoes. They were pretty light and I started using chili polish to help get them a bit darker. Here are two pictures of them fairly soon after I got them and I think they are pretty close to their original color. One indoor with a flash and the other outside. They actually look somewhat darker than I remember as they were pretty light out of the box. The indoor shot helps capture the orange tint that made me start using the chili. Perhaps this is why they started darkening it up a bit.

Is this why they killed the bourbon? Because they were darkening walnut? Bourbon, done right, is completely different.

@mreams99 Seeing your Flatirons, I am thinking of changing the color of my russet brown Freiburgs to dark chili or brown.

Russet brown is almost the same as chili, isn't it?

If you're referring to mine, they're Brown Burnished Calf. Darker than my Dundee 2's of the same color, but the folks 'round here seemed to like them.

They also killed my feet today with those Road Warrior inserts. My hope for these boots is diminishing.

On the upside, I got my bourbon Manistee belt today. It's lighter than my Larchmonts, but I should be able to darken it up with some black polish, right? and that's fine.

Mine have a lot of red. By the way, is there a DIY guide out there that might be helpful?

No, don't do that, bad idea. It doesn't have to be 100% the same shade, and some would even argue that it shouldn't be. From the picture it does look more than adequate for a match between the two, and black polish on the belt is just going to ruin your clothes.

I don't know if there is a DIY guide. I happened to have a lot of experience working with leather when I was younger, so I wasn't afraid to try this.

Carlsbad, Boca & Sojourner showed up on clearance - looks like this will be the end of the 333 & 222 (not counting shell).

@cc808314 They appear to be one piece. If it is in fact the Nashua you're looking at, great shoes, highly recommended, please keep in mind you're dealing with the 114 short length. Like a Cavanaugh or Lowry with padding taking up more volume. Only AE where I go 7.5 instead of 7.

Properly fitting shoes = all day comfort for me! Athletic shoes just feel weird to me now with their cushiness. Feels like there isn't as much support.

@danwatts2005 I find that really unfortunate - a result of AEs super limited inventory and the back and forth shipping preventing you from finding a good fit. The stores are geared towards getting everyone into the 65, which will likely "fit" everyone to some degree. I would have agreed with you when I first got my PAs, but as an example, last Fall one day I had my Aberdeens on by 7AM, did a couple hours of errands, considerable walking, made a 2.5 hr drive, did a LOT more walking, drove home (another 2.5 hours), and still had the shoes on at 2AM, and could have kept going. Keep trying everything you can get your hands on.

I absolutely can never get athletic shoes to work - I measure at a 7.5 narrow. With all the cushion I need the length of the 7.5 (with AE I go down to 7). But with the D width of the sneakers, it's always way too much volume, like I'm sloshing around, and I get leg muscle fatigue pretty quickly.

For real. I wore my Gobis for the majority of a 90 mile walking trip through Spain and had absolutely no foot pain or issues.

I have two pairs of black shoes (dundee 2.0 and a pair of Wolverines). I've worn both pairs this week. Do I need to seek counseling? Especially after yesterday's color splash. Someone shower me in Walnut please...
