I don't understand what the thinking behind that is. Nobody is thinking you're rolling out of bed with a coat and tie on.
I'm no expert on ties, but your knot looks off center, a little big, and with an off-center dimple.

No, but you also don't want to look like you spent hours examining every fold and crease of your attire in the morning, followed by hourly bathroom trips to examine the exact shape of your pocket square and tie knot. There's a happy medium somewhere in between.

Well, Spoo . . . you are certainly a prolific poster and I am relatively new to this.  It's a matter of personal style I guess.  As many have said before me, your dress should look as though you were not thinking about it at all . . . hmmm, what's that word?  Spezzatura??

You're right of course, Im just busting your chops.

Just received my two ties from SH -- very pleased with the results. Both are 55" long, 3 1/4" wide, and constructed for 4IH knots. The grenadine (Slate Blue) is a 4-fold construction and the linen (Powder Blue) is 3-fold.
Photos were taken outside, in the shade, and appear to be true to color (on my monitor at least).

Nice stuff

LeviMay - Very nice ties, particularly the burnt orange. Suggest you switch the suit tie combos, that would look nice too!

David,

Any idea when you'll be getting a restock of the fermo fossati dark chocolate satin #14?

Just received my first order from David. Nothing to say that hasn't already been said in this thread, but I'm more than satisfied with the entire process from David's wonderful customer service to the impeccable construction and attention to detail. Not the best photos, but I wanted to share nonetheless.

The ties (from left to right): EPLT-4 (Pink/Navy/Red),EPDT-10 (Sky Blue dots on Brown),GT-16 (Forest Green), GT-12 (Slate Blue)

Just received notice that my order has shipped (Dark Navy Garza Grossa, lined 4-fold). I'm hoping I got the length right — I take a short jacket length and tend to wear trousers near my natural waist, so I ordered it in 54", but am slightly leery of the fact that I won't be able to do a more complicated knot to compensate if it's too long.

Thinking of doing a Garza Fina (or Piccola, if the Fina isn't available) in black for my next tie. Can anyone comment on its thickness when made up?

As far as length, you could always just take a standard 56 or 57 inch tie and wear it, then look how much of the back blade you could do without.

I have a Garza Fina in navy and its my favorite tie. I went with 6 fold and four would probably be just as good. I only tie a 4ih not though, any other knot would be enormous.

Just got the tie today. That was fast!

I think the length will be all right. The front and back blades are nearly the same length, but it's no problem. On a lark, I tied it in a Pratt knot just to see what would happen. It's definitely bigger than a Windsor with a regular tie, though maybe not quite comically large. At any rate, I don't think I'll need to resort to it.

Will post pics if my daughter will cooperate and go to sleep, though not looking especially likely today...
