This LED lighting give these fabrics no justice, but that's my only option at 0545.

Very sharp Murl, I like the mix of colors and patterns and solids. I know it's a jacket and tie and wool trousers, but it's really nice and easy. Very casual and very put together at the same time. LOVE those shoes. Great choice there. :nodding:

@Rydenfan I keep looking at those sweaters. I like that purple a lot. They are really reasonably priced. Seems like the could/should become a thing around here...

I'm starting to open up about the idea. PM me some ideas or post in the GNAT thread. Here's the fabric:

I think the two I posted would work very well, actually. The navy/rust might seem too matchy-matchy but if you puff with the rust on top, wouldn't be a problem (I see rust/brown in the check).

The olive Mogul might be the best choice, slightly darker than the check but also won't pop out too much, with the rust animals given an accent to the check. I'd go with that one. It's pretty subtle as squares go, and a good first one to pair with odd jacket for you as it won't be too in your face. Both available at NMWA.

But I'll PM you with other ideas or we can have fun in the GNAT convincing you to take the plunge to PSs. I mean, come on, Stitchy does it now too and loves it.

Hate LED, I'd use gas lantern's if I could. I have a guy who sells me 100 watt incandescent bulbs- we meet up at Arby's twice a year.

I saw Neil Young for the first and only time a few years ago and I recall one of the conceptual points of his tour was that he was only using incandescent lighting (and old theaters). We were also told that Mr. Young required us to stay in our seats and turn off our phones. :nodding:

OK. What is GNAT? Is it a secret?

Excellent stuff, ryden and Murl. Embrace the PS lief, Murl. They are also great for pacifying kop cravings as they are relatively inexpensive.

Wow, thanks for the kind words, Frank.

I don't like them either, 1969, but I don't have an Arby's nearby....

GNAT is the Noodles thread, Frank.

Gracias, Stitch and Justin!

Thanks, Tweedy. I didn't see the squares the first time. I like them both....might just get them.

I didn't pick thus up from NMWA, but here's the same olive square they have. It'll be less "there" on your jacket so won't attract too much attention from your co-workers as you ease them into this new part of your sartorial adventure. I very much like the navy/rust...

They are really great. very comfortable and breathe reasonably well. The only thing I would advise is that they run CRAZY small. I am a L in IM (slightly snug but XL is too big) and this is a XXXL. I would size up at least 2 sizes from normal

Are all the Drake's ties on the site 8cm in width?
All except for the 2 special editions (Collective Action winner and runner-up), which are 8.5 cm

Time to talk about spring / summer suits and open up to pre-orders.

If you want to make sure your size is there for you (are you a 48L, a 58R?) or if you need larger or smaller trousers than standard, this is your chance.

Mid-grey Minnis Fresco suit - 9/10 oz

  • Full canvas construction with natural shoulder (spalla cadente morbida)
  • Mid-grey open weave Fresco cloth (#104342) from the Fresco II book, 9/10 oz spring/summer weight
  • Quarter-lined back for better air circulation and cooler wearing
  • Flap hip pockets; barchetta chest pocket
  • Flat front trousers with curtained waistband, buttoned fly & extended closure

Navy nailhead Harrisons Mystique suit - 8/9 oz

  • Full canvas construction with natural shoulder (spalla cadente morbida)
  • Navy nailhead cloth in light-to-medium weight plain weave wool from the Harrisons Mystique book, 8/9 oz spring/summer weight
  • Quarter-lined back for better air circulation and cooler wearing
  • Flap hip pockets; barchetta chest pocket
  • Flat front trousers with curtained waistband, buttoned fly & extended closure

Grey nailhead with blue windowpane Harrisons Mystique suit - 8/9 oz

  • Full canvas construction with natural shoulder (spalla cadente morbida)
  • Grey nailhead cloth with blue windowpane in light-to-medium weight plain weave wool from the Harrisons Mystique book, 8/9 oz spring/summer weight
  • Quarter-lined back for better air circulation and cooler wearing
  • Flap hip pockets; barchetta chest pocket
  • Flat front trousers with curtained waistband, buttoned fly & extended closure

Navy/brown cotton Solaro Caccioppoli blazersuit - 8 oz

  • Shirt sleeve shoulder construction (spalla manica a camicia);
  • Navy Solaro herringbone cotton cloth (brown back) from Caccioppoli's Special Cotton book, 8 oz weight
  • Quarter-lined back for better air circulation and cooler wearing
  • Patch hip pockets; barchetta chest pocket; double-stitching
  • Flat front trousers with curtained waistband, buttoned fly & extended closure

Tan medium-weight linen Carnet blazersuit - 11/12 oz

  • Shirt sleeve shoulder construction (spalla manica a camicia);
  • Tan linen cloth in a plain weave (Fresco-like) from Carnet's linen book, 11/12 oz weight
  • Quarter-lined back for better air circulation and cooler wearing
  • Patch hip pockets; barchetta chest pocket; double-stitching
  • Flat front trousers with curtained waistband, buttoned fly & extended closure

Perfect summer plaid wool/silk/linen Caccioppoli sport coat - 8/9 oz

  • Shirt sleeve shoulder construction (spalla manica a camicia);
  • Brown/beige glenplaid cloth with blue overcheck from Caccioppoli's Summer Jacketing book, 8/9 oz weight
  • Quarter-lined back for better air circulation and cooler wearing
  • Patch hip pockets; barchetta chest pocket ; double-stitching

We'll put the pre-order pages up in the next few days and have them open for a very short period of time (you know if you want it or not... and we need to send those to production, buy the cloth, etc...)

If there's a general preference for the navy nailhead Mystique to be made-up as a blazersuit with spalla camicia and patch pockets, I'm quite open to that - I think it would work well.

Discuss...

Of course my fave of the batch is a wool/linen mix.
