Let's be honest, if they were "just shoes"we wouldn't be willing to spend upwards of $500 a pair on them. Sometimes a very well-worn shoe can be great. The wear actually improving the aesthetic of the shoe. However, sometimes a shoe looks better to me when it's fairly new looking. I especially find this with wingtips. Sometimes the way the shoe creases can really diminish the otherwise fantastic lines of a shoe. In Cordovan for instance, sometimes the creases are particularly sharp, making the shoe look like a chewed up piece of plastic. I guess it's personal taste. For 5-800 a pair I want to keep them looking new for as long as I can.

It's personal preference. Yes I am fanatical about shoes...but they are "just shoes".

I'm VERY surprised that tifosi is even considering something with out STITCHING on the toes :rotflmao:

You can't go wrong with anything in #8

I agree with anything in # 8 would be a great choice. I never really thought about the chukka but as tifosi mentioned fall is right around the corner and the it would be a niice option to have. I think i have to try them both on to see what looks best

Pick one:

Alden for BB WT Color 8
Unlined PTB Color 8

Mostly for pants, grey suits and chinos,(comfort is important)

I don't have any color 8 shoes and already have LWB in other colors so not interested in the 975.

Thanks.

Trying to catalogue the various Color 8 Indy boots available...

Alden NYC - double leather sole, storm welt with close heel, speedhooks
Alden SF - waterlock sole, Barrie last, unsure about welt/eyelets
Alden DC - ?
The Shoe Mart - commando sole, 360 storm reverse welt, all eyelets

Any others?

Looking for a color 8 boot with dark edging and considering an Indy (I had too many boots with antique edging and want to diversify a bit). Any other suggestions are appreciated...

Unlined #8 PTB for me. Are there any of these available right now? I want a pair.

Very difficult choice. I could go grudgingly with the WT but you can't go wrong with either choice. I have the WT and I will add a PTB (not sure if unlined or not) within the next year

J Gilbert does a makeup as well. I believe Trubalance and Commando sole. Very nice looking
