J Gilbert does a makeup as well. I believe Trubalance and Commando sole. Very nice looking

Yep! I'll hopefully be getting those in my hands next month.

Speaking of non-shell, any love out there for the Ranger Mocc in reverse chamois? I pulled this one out today because I've been thinking about getting another make up of the Ranger (shell!)

I really like those. I was in Alden DC today talking about this exact shoe with Joe. Doesn't sound like they are going to do it again anytime soon.

Let's be honest, if they were "just shoes"we wouldn't be willing to spend upwards of $500 a pair on them. Sometimes a very well-worn shoe can be great. The wear actually improving the aesthetic of the shoe. However, sometimes a shoe looks better to me when it's fairly new looking. I especially find this with wingtips. Sometimes the way the shoe creases can really diminish the otherwise fantastic lines of a shoe. In Cordovan for instance, sometimes the creases are particularly sharp, making the shoe look like a chewed up piece of plastic. I guess it's personal taste. For 5-800 a pair I want to keep them looking new for as long as I can.

It truly is personal taste. My comments apply only to boots as that's what I wear almost exclusively. I prefer my boots to look "worn" as I dress mostly casually --- denim and chinos. To me, they have more character when they don't look new. Just like raw denim, the creases and scuffs on my boots are mine and reflect my use. I have a few dressier boots that I try to keep looking as new as possible for when I have to wear suits, etc. Otherwise, I only treat them (with Reno or VC) minimally to make sure they don't get too dry.

I actually prefer the stitching of the Indy on a fuller last. I would do an NST boot on the Plaza over an Indy

NST is high on my list. I have to admit that I was focused on exotics. Looking at #8 has provided me with sine clarity. I really wish the Leffot pre order wasn't at the same time as my LS boots. Debating on the antique vs dark edgetrim.

I agree. I would have liked a NST on a nice, sleek last. Couldn't find one. Settled for Barrie with the Leffot version. However...if a plaza lasted does come up I might still entertain it as it will have a black edge most likely and be dressier.

Hello Everyone:

I am writing in the hopes that some of the more knowledgeable members of this forum can assist me...

I am looking for a pair of Alden boots that were available at J Crew...my size in no longer available and they do not have any plans to restock this particular style...is anyone aware of a style that is similar ? I love the color and the simple toe ( cap toe would be fine as well!)

If anyone has a pair of these in a size 8.5 (or even a 9), I would be willing to take them off your hands and pay you handsomely for parting with them...additionally, I would pay a premium for anyone that has them NIB in my size...

Thanks in advance...here's a link and an image...

Love the antique. Really sealed the deal for me on the leffot.

could anyone tell me how number 1 last (allen edmonds leeds) compares to the barrie last (alden all weather walker)?

i'm a 9E in the former and want to figure out the right sizing for the latter.

All of my Barrie shoes and boots are 9D. I have AE's 1 last in 9.5D, 10C, and 10D. 10C is the best. I really like AE's 1 last.
