Thanks for all the replies guys! I may not have been super clear in my first post however. I already own the LS CXL Chukka and was unsure if a Ravello version of the chukka would be too similar.
I think perhaps i'm reaching a little too much and should sit tight and wait of a shortwing blucher to pop up...

I don't necessarily think so. Chomexcel is darker than most ravello. Also, you may feel a bit better wearing those chromexcel chukkas in the rain (double waterlock sole, rugged leather). Alden chukkas in general are good shoes, you shouldn't be afraid to get them in a variety of leathers (cordovan, suede, chromexcel) and colors. I am thinking about picking up cigar or ravello myself (just sold my ravello PTB, so I have some more Alden money)

'tis a good day, but something about that boot just isn't jiving w/ me. Contrast toebox stitching? Eyelets instead of speed hooks (personally a fan of the latter, despite public SF objections). Good looking, no doubt though. Enjoy.

Hello. Think my other post was held up because I just joined, so pardon the re-post, but no one seems to have seen it to give an answer. What are the shoes in the pic below (I cropped the original post with pics down to just the one in question)? Are they these:

Do people here have good experiences with chromexel? By which I mean, it doesn't scuff too easily and it holds up well over time? Looking for something a bit more casual than the cordovan #8 SW bals I just bought. Thanks for the help.

Ok, it's a poor photo. But, these 94328s are beat up pretty bad and there is barely a scuff. I find that the leather doesn't tend to scuff, rather I get light streaks as if someone rubbed it with a waxy candle or something. Overall, it holds up. My Indy's scuff far more easily.

Yea- the stitching really popped out in this photo- kinda surprised me...it doesn't seemingly stand out as much in real life...

Speed hooks suck incredibly bad..they look awful and are barely functional and highly problematic...they tore out of these boots within a week of their arrival...Alden replaced with eyelets...the aesthetics don't really come into play as no one ever sees that part of the boot- unless your a fanboy hoisting your pants for a goober pic on a forum :)

The color on these is incredible! How long/how frequent have you wore these?

just about to ask the same thing--it looks like the alden purple dye has faded and left the nice patina/original horween color. maybe it's the lighting?

I have had them for about 1.5yrs...I have worn them pretty frequently- perhaps 3-4 times a week...a little less so far this year as I am working in an office in downtown SF. This was the first time I have worn them to the office...

They are significantly patina-ed -

perhaps I will do a compare and contrast picture with my other #8 boots which are much newer/darker...

^ Am also a bit thrown by the contrast stitching, I didn't know they even made the #8 with a contrast stitch tbh...

Makes the boot a bit more casual than I'd like, but looks like you've gotten some great use out of them
