The things you list are neither particularly capitalistic nor particularly un-capitalistic. Just because you or I may disagree with the belief of people in corporate hierarchies that things like "mandatory volunteerism" will enhance efficiency or profitability doesn't make them socialist or anti-capitalist. Part of capitalism is that companies are going to try different stuff, some of which is going to fail miserably -- that's how, in theory, the marketplace distinguishes "**** that works" from "**** that doesn't work". Remember back in the '80s or whenever, when imitating the "team approach" of Japanese car companies was all the rage? That wasn't because a bunch of communists suddenly seized control of U.S. corporations. It was because some capitalists believed that moving toward that model would end up making their companies more profitable.

You can't have actual teamwork if the dipshits hired don't pull their own share. Real, productive, teamwork at a work place is a rare beast. Most of the time there are 20-30% of the people pulling the load of the entire team.

+1 These 'activities' are designed to foster the same kind of comeraderie one gets from actually working with those you respect and like, but it is a cheap substitute with a lot of negative effects. Real teamwork is still rare, and this junk actually decreases its incidence by creating negative feelings in those cases that would otherwise not exist, inhibiting the best of them.

The best teams are always mavericks that play their way. The worst 'teams' are those created and fostered by beauracracy; they are called committees at best.

While you may dislike so-called teamwork LK, there are many complex tasks that our modern societies could not accomplish as efficiently without coordination between many highly skilled and specialized individuals that need to work in teams, groups... whatever you want to call them. An individual's ability to collaborate well with others is therefore an important skill for many professionals today.

The season premier of house confirmed this.
