I don't care that must of the Western hemisphere is struggling under a brutal heatwave.

I don't care that our Western business environment is shifting more towards business casual.

Let's talk about suits - or, really, some awesome threads that you, StyleForum reader, should be reading!

Ring Jacket

Ring Jacket is a sleeper-cell of a brand: they first popped up in the StyleForum radar 3-4 years ago, but lately they've been hitting it big time, and for good reason. They're a Japanese brand that specializes in unstructured jackets (in an Italian style but through a Japanese lens), with basic, well-styled pieces. Their most wellknown pieces are likely their patch-pocket blue wool blazers - nothing like your dad's Brooks Brothers - but they offer an entire range of awesome stuff, which is more subtle than many things out there. Plus, they make some of the best bomber jackets in the world.

Eidos Napoli

What can I say about Eidos that hasn't already been said, over and over? But there's a reason people can't stop talking about Eidos on StyleForum - and buying their pieces, and if you're an affiliate going out of the way to stock the brand - and it's not because their head designer posts here. It's because the clothing is excellent. It's Italian styling in fashion forward cuts at reasonable prices, and they have enough exotic fabrics to shape things up. The fits and cuts are great too, and everything just works.

Collaborating for Linen

This isn't really in the vein of the previous two threads - but I'm behind this mission, so let's give it a shot. Some of our poster are seeking posters to get together to commission a custom run of 38g green linen from fabric mill W. Bill. Help out!

Funny.

I had lunch in Annapolis last weekend, where it was 98 degrees F with 95 percent humidity, the result of some passing mass of tropical air. Being one of the few people left who still think that suits are awesome in pretty much every way, I wore a suit to lunch.

Seersucker.

Holy c**p!

Bad idea.

It was the only time that I can think of when I actually wished that I wasn't wearing a suit. Maybe I just almost wished I wasn't wearing one. I'm not sure that I do anything differently if I knew how bad the weather would be. But I still wouldn't have enjoyed it.

I have suits from both Ring Jacket and Eidos and love them all! I'll definitely get some more Ring stuff this fall from the Armoury folks in NYC. I'm also curious to see the new Eidos line...

To throw out some other options (some I know well and others I hope to acquire down the line...), how about some love for NMWA for their Formosa offerings (in addition to their Eidos wares...)? And even though it may not be in most SFers wheelhouse, Paul Stuart suits always strike me as an attractive OTR option...

Then there are the domestic and traveling bespoke tailors: Despos, Ercoles, WW Chan, NsM, Steed (and now even Liverano via the Armoury, if you can stomach the price...)!

Lots I've left out of course, but...

Yes, suits!

Carry on...
