Momofuku seems to be all the rage with some people. But all the people I talk to who have actually eaten there aren't over their heads about it.

I guess I think of it as exciting as a discovery, be less so afterward.

It might also be less novel if you're traveled.

you will be held responsible for the ample post consumption Momo hype. A major responsibility, almost puritan at heart. Be sure to discuss how phony other restaurants are without crossing the line between "chat" and "important details". Never reach the latter. Bonus points for using the word "corporate" in your discussion. Super bonus points for a "how do you live with yourself" statement after any question about my job is answered.

I feel like I missed this wonderful highbrow pissing contest I needed to see live to fully appreciate or understand. Kind of like when I'm stuck in traffic on the highway, and when I finally get to the bottleneck there is . . . nothing. Just a little broken glass and some yellow spray paint, maybe a lonely bumper cover. This makes me sad.

Also, I'm disappointed the obligatory American Psycho references haven't made their way into this thread yet. Dorsia? Deck Chairs? Phil Collins? Is anyone paying attention to the Mandatory Styleforum Thread Flowchart (TM) anymore?

P.S. Momofuku pork buns live up to the hype.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for. I was a bit tired of the California-style fusion which seems to exaggerate everything. Momofuku stays pretty true to the original flavors. I think David Chang himself would be the first person to say that he doesn't understand all the acclaim he's received, and that he's overrated.

Thanks. I should get around to trying it at some point.

While I agree that Momofuku is a bit overrated, it is still an amazing meal nonetheless (and the pork buns are sick). The fried chicken dinner is an experience. And Ko is one of the better meals in the City. That being said, the Compost cookie, Candy Bar Pie, and Crack Pie at MILK are addictive. I am lucky in that I live less than 2 blocks away, so this is my late night sweets crave.

Oh and Village Vanguard is about as iconic as they get, and convenient if you're spending time in the village. Next to a great porno and toy store, too.

Clearly they haven't indulged in the RC Cola at the noodle bar.

Well, my weekend in Manhattan got f*cked.
The snow has canceled most of the flights from the midwest to LGA.

Delta 'thinks' the might be able to get me there by 9pm Saturday

I guess I'm going to drive to Chicago instead.
