Opinions on "Steampunk" fashion

I kinda consider the John Steed character a little Steampunk. He had some cool mechanical gadgets and the outfits were mod with some old fashioned flair. Some parts of his outfits can be used in Steampunk fashion, if not the whole thing. Then again, not being around until MANY decades later, I could be a bit off.

How about the old and new Doctor Who and Torchwood. The Tardis and Captain Jack are pretty Steampunk.

Battlestar Galactica is pretty steampunk too... especially with it's dystopian theme and the old, dilapidated feel of the ships.
