i actually can not. I get more flack from famous jazz musicians than from anyone else. I doesn't usually but it has hurt certain professional relationships. most jazz musicians see those who try a dress well as pretentious, arrogant and untrustworthy. seriously.

I just received a 2B SBPL from Mahon done in the Sicilian PoW. If I feel particularly stupid and brave while near a camera, I'll take a picture. It has slanted pockets and a ticket pocket. The pockets' flaps can be tucked, but I wouldn't do that.

There is no such thing as SF approval ... no such thing as SF disapproval. It is all -- every last bit of it -- SF totally undecided. Except, of course, black suits are a total no-no ... it matters not that some perpetually attempt to revive this as a discussion point.

My second black suit, this one a DB, should be here from my tailor within a couple of weeks.

If you prefer, we can call it a dark, dark charcoal since few blacks succeed in being black in all light.

It has a windowpane, figuratively allowing the owner to jump through and escape.

Don't tell anyone ... but my Richard Anderson DB with diagonal pinstrip is on a black ground.

I'm having a "fun" discussion over in some thread about Black Suits ...
come and help me.

http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=211771

I'm being scolded for not giving reasons.
Never mind that I have noted there is but one reason ...
and that reason is plenty sufficient for me.

Do they think you're showing off and try to steal maybe their sunshines or do they think you 're more worried by appeance than substance?

Miles Davis was very sharp...

Being elegant is sometimes counter-productive in social and professional environments...

I always have the same comments about my suits and my relunctance to dress down...

**** them.

Strange, but from memory the ground looked more like a very inky dark grey rather than black... The fabric certainly has a lot of life in it (which is my main complaint of straight blacks... i.e. flat, lifeless cloth...).

I'm surprised this is even up for discussion. Most modern peaks are horrible, but that doesn't mean peaks in general are. Steed again shows us the way:

I've always liked the look of notch lapels more then peak, so only worn them. I'm reconsidering that though based on trying to establish what style looks best on my build, not what I think looks best on other people who may have a different frame.

I don't think I was ever taught you couldn't wear peak lapel on suits, only the other way - notch on dinner jackets was a bit inappropriate.

I'd never seen a tautz collar before. In that photo at least, it looks awesome.

Between the peak lapels with belly, and the double breasted waistcoat, you have a very affected 3 piece there. That's not a criticism btw, I think it's awesome, you look like you pull it off.
