^ My 403's from The Shoe Mart didn't come with dust bags either, just plastic bags. Does Alden make a dust bag specifically for boots? I'm not sure my other bags would be big enough to fit these clunkers in there.

The Pitt Boot I bought from LS came with a dust bag. The Indy and Chukka I got from Shoemart (irregular list) didn't come with one.

Seems like most Indys didn't come with bags then...I'll have to see if I can just buy a pair of extra bags somewhere. I normally wouldn't care that much but I don't want the speed hooks to scrape up the other boot if they're stored in a cramped area.

Agree (same issue on the Ravello PTB). With the antique (lighter) welting and edge trim the shoe is beautiful - the darker welting/edge trim doesn't cut it.

++++:nodding: agree 100% on both counts. Either shoe paired with a dark edge trim throws the balance off and makes the shoe look pretty different. I purposefully sought ought the lighter trim models of my own cigars and ptbs.

^ I have 4 Barrie last shoes and none of them fit the same...isn't that the charm of Alden?

none of them? I have 6 pairs on the Barrie last, all different models and they have pretty much the same fit. My cigar Chukkas feel a bit looser but I chalk that up to the lacing and not the last.

last night, I cleaned up a pair of Ravello wingtips. Came out pretty nice:

Very nice. As were those tankers you posted earlier.
I wore my Ravello wing tip boots this weekend as well.

The leather looks beautiful with hints of many shades of color. Lovely. The dark black welt throws me for a loop though. Seems out of place with the light antique edgetrim - is that how it was sold?

I like em a lot, I saw them last week. Black cordovan is underrated IMO. I have a pair of black cordovan Rider balmoral boots that I love; these Alden naval boots looked very sharp as well. I think the fact that the shoe is black and the captoe make it look pretty sleek despite the barrie last. These boots would look awesome in fall/winter when wearing black ot grey outerwear, sweaters, etc, and also obviously with grey suiting. FYI Leffot also had some black longwings in stock.

^ looks terrible IMO. Then again I pretty much hate that sole on any shoe, but seems even worse on an Indy.

It was sold black. Will probably change it to dark brown. Happen to be wearing them again today

If you want you can buy Alden-branded shoe bags for $20 a pair from the Madison Ave shop. A vendor on Amazon sells a few flannel shoe bags more inexpensively:

http://www.amazon.com/Italian-Flannel-Cotton-Shoe-Green/dp/B003COMMAC/

http://www.amazon.com/Italian-Flannel-Cotton-Large-10-5x15/dp/B003CNWL9U/

Note that these prices are for single bags, not pairs. I use them and like them very much. (The Amazon vendor ships quickly, too.)

Bags yes. Box no.

EDIT: Also shoe bags are very useful for packing shoes in a suitcase. They make sure your soles don't dirty your other clothes, and that your shell doesn't get scuffed by the other items you might throw in there.
