Oddly, even though I've only been able to wear them once, I've been debating contacting Rancourt and inquiring about a second pair of shell loafers - this time as a two tone weltline penny loafer with a green cordovan strap and sides and then tan cordovan for the top... just what I need, another pair of shoes.

OK. Promise I'll stop replying to comments that are not on the topic of Alden, but I've been thinking almost the same thing the past few days, except it's the pinch penny in all green shell. I suppose this is the exact place where I'd expect to find a great mind thinking alike.

Man that sucks... those welts will not go away. No amount of polish, buffing, brushing, cream, etc will remove those welts. Now your best bet is to hope that natural patina eventually fades them out, but there's nothing else you can do. And it can take an extremely long time for them to fade depending on sunlight exposure and amount of wear they get. It's the biggest drawback to shell imo.
On rainy days I stick to calf, preferrably black, like yesterday for me. I just don't wear shell in the rain. And it's infinitely easier to wear calf on a rainy day than to constantly worry about applying creams or "defenders" on your shell. It just takes a tiny bit of foresight and all your problems go away.

i've had the welts come and go, with honestly little extra effort to remove other than maybe the back of a spoon. i avoid wearing my shells in a downpour, but i don't shy away if the forecast calls for rain. also if you let droplets linger on the shoe the welts will be more likely to form.

like these?
Don't think I've seen bal boots by Alden before. Those look great. Are they Alden? Did you pick up a special make-up from somewhere in particular?

Thanks for the lead! I signed up for that irregular list, but never got the mail!
I'm not sure what size I am in the Leydon. The only Alden I have actually worn is the Trubalance 11.5d, which fits more or less well, but is just a bit wide and voluminous. I haven't done any research yet on the sizing of the Leydon yet. Any thoughts?
I'll give TSM a mail and see if they still have any.

Generally, the Leydon should fit about 1/2 size smaller than the Trubalance, and if your 11.5D is a little wide, then there's a decent chance you may be able to fit into the 12C suede chukka. Good luck and hopefully TSM still had that one pair available!

just received my first pair of #8 LWB from TSM. altho they are seconds but I think the flaws that I can find is easily ignorable. the right vamp has a very slight discoloration than the left and you cannot really tell. There is a tiny scratch on it which is invisible if you are actually wearing it.

the moment I open that box that picked up the shoes I know that my indulgence will never end. but, I LOVE IT. :slayer::slayer:

here are some pics, pics did not show the minor discoloration and the scratch, if anyone want them I can post them later.

Very nice.

I have purchased the same shoes from that very seller. Absolutely cannot wait to get them.

those are the standard wax laces. the color is just lighting

Yes, that is correct. Everything looked blue in that pic for some reason. Must have been the reflection off the carpet.

These are DC Lewis, a forum members shoe line. They had some samples made of different shoes and a boot and sold them on here a few months ago. These were made with Horween cordovan.

F it, I preordered the Ravello wing tip boots from Shoemart. Crazy thing was that she said they placed a re-order just last month including 2 pairs in 8D and one was already spoken for. I figured I had to secure my pair as I think it's veryyyy unlikely a secondhand pair in like new condition is going to come about.

Now a 6-12 month wait :fu::fu::fu: I'm not buying another pair of shoes until then unless something really, really good comes about.
