Gentlemen, excellent postings today. Those Color 8 LWBs of sazon's look amazing, as do 100yr's snuff suede, tifosi & mdubs' Whiskey Wednesday and those very comfy looking snuff suede LHS that DonL is wearing today.
I received a couple of packages today, which is always exciting but sometimes stressful.
First, the good: J Crew PCT boots fit great and are a rich, dark version of color 8 that sends my swooning every time I look at them. Also, I haven't done any deep knees bend in them or anything like that, but they do seem to fit slightly more snug than my Leffot black shell Naval Boots.
Now for the not so good: received a pair of LS snuff suede Safari boots and am totally non-plused. When I look down at them on my feet, it just seems so wide through the foot (because the suede has so much give) culminating in a very narrow-looking toe area. It's accentuated by the regular flat welt of the sole which is hardly visible (like it is on a reverse welt boot), so it's just that chisled narrow toe box staring up at me. I can totally see people liking this look, but I guess I'm used to more rounded toes on suede shoes -- suede bucks, Van last LHS, or suede chukkas on the Barrie last.
Have I simply gotten (temporarily) too used to looking at my color 8 Trubalance Indy-clad feet - and it was too much of an aesthetic shock to suddenly throw on a pair of suede boots with a narrow little Plaza last chisled toes? Thoughts?
It could be that the profile of the Plaza just does not appeal to you. It does not appeal to me, for the reason that you have described.
