Milkshake suede Indys.

1000

Frank - about how long have you worn these? I like those a lot. I was thinking about asking if anyone had a fit pic with the milkshake suede because I've been looking at these all day:

500

the shoe mart calls it out as "pepello" suede, but they could be a typo for "repello". does anyone know if the milkshake color is the same as the one shown on shoemart? it looks very similar.

i believe i might be losing it because i'm considering paying $500 for a totally impractical (for my wardrobe) off white suede boot. and if i were to buy them, leaving them untreated and taking my chances

The Macneil is burgundy?
Yes burgundy.

is the marlow brown shell or color8?
Marlowe are brown shell.

The MacNeil is brown though right? Do you own both MacNeil and Alden's LWB on Barrie, do you have any strong preference for one or another?
No the MacNeils are burgundy. All of the AE shoes in the pic are burgundy. I do not own any Barrie LWBs.
Are you really asking that question on this thread? :rotflmao:
Seriously though, the McNeil is a fine shoe but there is absolutely no comparison as far as fit, comfort, finishing, and overall quality. The difference in calf or color 8 shell is about $175 and well worth it IMHO.

Are we talking about between Alden and Allen Edmonds? If so, I'd say that the overall quality between the two aren't too far apart. I don't own any Aldens yet, but probably am looking for some straight tip derby boots, but it's going to be a toss up between Alden and Carmina.

I was at Columbus Circle Mall this morning and saw the Alden for J Crew, tobacco waxed LWB and they look fabulous... much better than my 3 year old pair that has an orange-ish hue.  This newer pair looks a little darker; more brownish than orange.  It looks more like a calf version of ravello.  Wish mine looked like them.  Anyone here looking for a cheaper alternative to the ravello LW grail should check them out.

Were they actually cxl? And I returned my original pair cause of the orange tint so sounds like I should pick up another pair

A few questions for the community:

- any reservations about wearing chucka's all year ( or at least 3 of the 4 seasons)?

- Shoemart has the option of Ravello Shell chucka's that look more like whiskey. Are there variations on some of the hard-to-find colors between retailers (I.e. would a Ravello from Shoemart look different than a Ravello from alden of Madison)?

- Is there a magic secret to finding a pair of Alden's in one of the less common colors or is it simply a matter of searching and persistence?

As always, your input is appreciated.

Those look like they'd be a really similar color. The style is different (Indy vs. captoe), but I like this one too. The bright brass hardware is great.

Mine came from Epaulet last year. I've worn them a handful of times, mostly because I have way too many shoes and it's hard for me to wear them all. :nodding: And the light color does make them more of a warm weather boot.

I did treat mine with some suede protector, but I've come to the opinion that suede looks best with some wear on it, so I'm not going to worry about these. Just wear them.
