Just received a new shirt today. :slayer: This is my second order and I have to say it turned out really well. I worked with Theresa to correct some issues with neck drop and shoulder slope from my first try. I tried it on briefly and I think we figured out my "settings". It's hard to tell from the picture but it's the light blue university stripe. The fabric is soft and lightweight. Highly recommended if you like blue and white striped shirts. I went unfused on cuffs and collar and it really has a Barba look and feel.

What collar style is this? Looks nice.

Thanks. I'm not sure what it's called but it's an unfused, semi-spread collar with 3.5" points and 1.5" neck band sort of modeled after this.

Here's a picture of the shirt on a hanger:

It looks a lot like the Barba spread collar, which I dig. If it helps you could reference my order #2491. Also, if you want I can take a couple of pictures of the collar laying flat so you can see the shape better.

Edit: Here's a picture of the shirt in action. I don't think it's too big at all. I am 6'1" with a big bean :foo: so it's fairly proportionate to my size.

Thanks for the collar info, steveoly!

Also, was this answered? If so, I missed it. Would be nice to see examples of these jackets, if any have been made?

Oh my, this is very interesting.  How would the jacket be constructed? Presumably without fusing or canvassing on the front, and without shoulder pads?  I'd love to get one like this from you but I unfortunately don't have a sample to send in. Hmm, maybe come spring or summer other people will have tried it and so you'll have the process down...

Alas, I haven't heard back about that. I get the impression they're rather busy right at present - my most recent shirt took a good bit longer than the first two. Not that I'm complaining, it's a totally reasonable turnaround time; I'm just impatient to get my next shirt.

Will answer it now :)
The jacket would not have any fusing or canvassing. Crucial areas would be double layered though. They would be made with a lot of detail for smart, sporty look.

Regarding the fabric's quality, and especially the ones that are branded as Monti 140/2 on the site, I have to say I am more than surprised (not positively)

I ordered the following two: http://luxire.com/products/white-blue-pinstripe and http://luxire.com/products/white-dobby-herringbone-stripes-by-monti.

I was so unimpressed by the fabric (owning more than 50 shirts, I like to think that I can compare fabrics quite well) that I brought it to a shirtmaker.
He shared my opinion that it didn't feel like nor looked like a Monti fabric and especially not in 140/2. We compared with the actual Monti 140/2 bunch and there's a world between what I received and what I touched in the fabric bunch. In order to avoid potential prejudice, the shirtmaker I went to see does not criticize just for the sake of it.

Is it possible that these have been branded as Monti 140/2 by mistake or is there any other explanation possible?

I have far less experience with shirts than you do.
Always willing to learn though and as I happen to have swatches from both fabrics lying in front of my right now, I'd love to know what you dislike about them.

It's very simple (in my mind at least but let's try to put it down into words). The ICE one (with pencil stripes) feels very synthetic and not as soft as a 140/2 usually does (or any of the 140/2 by Monti I touched with the shirtmaker).

For the white herringbone, it's quite thick and not soft as well. While twill weave usually feels thicker than a plain weave, this feels like a cotton blend and definitely not a 140/2.

It's a pity because the service of Luxire is great and extremely fast and the measures are well followed. I just consider that the fabric isn't what it should be.

This is a very serious charge, bordering on fraud. Did your shirt maker have the same fabrics, or just other Monti fabrics? If they were the same ones, did they look the same (the same color, stripe width etc)? While I'm not an expert on the subject, i would expect that there's a difference between the feel of raw fabric, on one hand, and fabric that has been tailored, finished, laundered, perhaps starched, and pressed, on the other.

As for your shirt maker, I don't doubt that he's an honest enough fellow, but I also expect that any shirt maker is going to find fault in a $60 shirt ordered on the Internet and made in India. His very livelihood depends on it.

I've just browsed through the 27 swatches I received another time.
While I'd say the heringbone is not amongst the softest, I'd say it still feels fine, the pinstripe indeed does not feel especially great.
Of the fabrics swatches I received, I'd say Lustorours Fine White and Sky Blue Dobby Twill feel the softest.
Also I agree the heringbone is quite thick, especially compared to the pinstripe, which is amongst the thinest swatches though.
What do you mean by a synthetic feel to the pinstripe?
I am curious because I have some other swatches which feel similiar.

That shirtmaker knows very well I'm not going to stop making shirts with him because I found Luxire. He already praised me on a shirt made in HK so I don't think he's that biased though I do get your point.

For the fabric test, I didn't find the exact same ones at all to be honest in all the swatches he had (and I didn't think there were that many 140/2 Monti fabrics). But what is absolutely sure is that all of them were way softer and lighter than the ones I have from Luxire.

It might be a bad fabric bunch, bad luck from my side, mistakes on the sorting of the fabric, I don't know. But I'm still wondering if these are indeed real Monti fabrics.
