Back to the original topic, Bontoni reminds me quite a bit of the Zintala shoes (Lattanzi lower line) sold at the Bizzochi boutique in Manhattan. Interesting finishing, construction not as nice as the big names. Too much flash for me.

Actually if I were going to buy "Italian" shoes, I kind of like the extended welt gaudiness of some upper tier Lidfort and Bentanin sold by Barneys.

Zintala construction is the same as Lattanzi. Styles are the same as well. The Bizzocchi store just chose some funky models. This was confirmed by the people at Latanzi.

I think because EG is way overrated in this forum.

Unlike the controversial Vass.

What does that mean exactly ? Why controversial ?
Is VASS not supposed to be one of the best in town in terms of Quality / Price ??

I am sorry, the list is somewhat pear-shaped. If you titled it "brands with the best marketing" it would make a lot more sense...

I don't think anyone disputes Vass quality or value. However, quite a few people strongly disklike their traditional central European lasts, and take those as representative of the entire line.

I don't like the Budapesters either, but I have to give them credit for designing other very attractive lasts. "F" ranks with the very best RTW lasts available today.

I used to dislike the Budapesters until I received mine. Now I can say that they are among my very favorite shoes. U and F are both very nice lasts as well.

Agreed, at least as one can until I finally get around to buying a pair. I think the U last is my fave from a pure looks standpoint.
