I wholeheartedly concur Parker. And as a bonus, I thought I would include a Drakes v. Panta Shantung-off, if you will:

Ed's Shantung really is quite different from Drakes'. They are completely different animals from up close. With that said, however, I can tie a MUCH better knot with Ed's than with my Drakes Shantung.

Both Panta's look great. (Is there a website yet?)

Looking for a tie to go with this cotton suit:

Requirements: summery fabric, plain (one colour, not blue/navy, nothing wild), 8 cm wide, beautiful. Any recommendations?

This is the Macclesfield Silk Tie #85. It looks a bit darker IRL than on the photo.

Ed can correct me if I am wrong, but those two ties are made of completely different silks. The Drakes is a true shantung, and Eds is a raw silk, not a true shantung. It has the slubbiness of the shantung on more of a woven texture.

Thanks, Kaplan. The second one in grey (and 8 cm) would be nice. I don't like the "cut-off"-variety". What do you think of this one: Charcoal Gray/Silver Grenadine Fina Silk Tie - Sam Hober

3,75" (9,5 cm?), hm...

No, but going to, thanks. Are they easy to tie? Edit: just checked. They all seem to be patterned.

I don't think the width is an issue with Hober, don't you just order it the way you want it? Either way, I'm not a fan of silvery ties and think it may be too formal looking for a cotton suit? But I like the garza fina.
